Meru technical training institute is now a National Polytechnic and offers various certificates, diplomas, and craftsmanship training to students.

Below is the fee to be paid by each student undertaking different Programmes…

The total fee per year for each student regardless of the course is Kshs. 67189.00.

But if you applie through KUCCPS, the actual amount you’ll pay will depend on how much the HEF system allocates (scholarship+ HELB)

What this fee  structure for Meru Technical Training Institute doesn’t include:

  1. Exam fees (final summative exam fee)– the amount you will pay depends on the course you’re pursuing and module level.
  2. Industrial attachment /Training fee- you will need to go for attachment/industrial training out there and there’s a small fee you will pay for this.
  3. Accommodation (Hostel fee)- The college owned hostels go at Kshs.5500.00 per term (without meals) but you can only get a chance to board within the college if you report very early (they give them out on first come first serve basis). Outside hostels you pay slightly more.
  4. Personal money- you need some pocket cash to survive on too. Don’t you?

 

I hope you know that your HELB loan and /or scholarship will reduce the total amount that you should pay once it has been approved- so don’t just pay everything at once if you have also applied for loans and scholarship….again the finance office can advise you properly here.

How to apply for admission into Meru technical training institute

To apply as a government student, you will have to apply through KUCCPS.

Note that if you do not apply through KUCCPS, you will not benefit from the government capitation.

With that in mind, below are the steps to follow to apply through KUCCPS:

  1. Visit KUCCPS Student’s Portal accessible through the Placement Service website kuccps.ac.ke.
  2. Next, confirm if the application is open.
  3. If open, go ahead and choose the course you would like to pursue from the KUCCPS portal.
  4. After that, choose Meru technical training institute as your preferred institution.
  5. Lastly, select the course you would like to pursue and submit.

If the application is not open, keep checking.

But you can choose to apply as a private student- To apply as a private student, you can apply online via the institution’s portal or else go get the form from the institution, fill it out, and later return it to the office of the register.

Needless to say, if you apply as a private student, there’s no capitation so you will pay a total of Kshs. 56420 per year.

Accommodation at Meru technical training institute

Note that Meru technical training institution charges Kshs. 5250 per term for the hostel.

Remember that due to the high demand, hostels are allocated on a first come first serve basis (so book early)

If the hostels are unavailable, the good news is that you can always rent a private space outside (although it can be more expensive).

Important tip: You can only pay for the hostel if you have already paid your tuition fee and confirmed availability of vacant hostels .
