Is KMTC under KUCCPS?

Some of you have been asking us if KMTC is really under KUCCPS…So, is KMTC under KUCCPS?

Well, below is the answer.

Is KMTC under KUCCPS?

Short answer: Yes..

The dispute over who to place medical students in certificate and diploma colleges betwwen KMTC and KUCCPS has been settled after almost ten years of turf warfare, sibling rivalry, and court fights between the two important government departments.

In fact, the issue had also been brought up in court as two government organizations, the Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Service(KUCCPS) and the KMTC fought through their attorneys to obtain the mandate(they fought for 10 years plus)

But that has now come to an end.

So you may now apply to KMTC through KUCCPS (the national central placement agency) if you intend to pursue medical studies at any of the Kenya Medical Training College(KMTC) facilities across the country.

I should add that this is an important milestone because it means that KMTC students will also start benefiting from government scholarships and loans unlike in the past when you’d be locked out of government capitation and HELB loans if you are a KMTC student.

KUCCPS says that they will ensure fairness, equity, and balance when selecting students to join the various KMTC courses via the KUCCPS platform when KUCCPS KMTC applications are open.

Keep in mind that a total of 30 KMTC programs are open for application through KUCCPS, some at the diploma and certificate levels.
