As you’ll see, the cost of your university education has been quite affordable by the government, even if you’re classified as Less needy(the least-favored category under the MIT government funding system for university studies in Kenya).

Important points
- You must apply for funding through the HEF funding website before the portal closes.
- Vulnerable and extremely-needy students won’t pay a penny(government funds them 100%)
- Needy as well as less-needy pays just pays 7% of the yearly fee from their pockets- the rest is funded by the government as scholarship+loans/bursaries/grants. The good news is that the University allows you to pay half(3.5%) of the 7% per semester(the academic year has 2 semesters)
That means that each semester you pay the following amounts(needy & less needy) per sem:

- Students will be loaned upkeep money as follows:
