You can work in:

  • Government hospitals
  • Private hospitals
  • Ambulance rescue services
  • Non-governmental organizations
  • Defense forces emergency medical teams

You can also work as a lecturer in emergency medical services (EMS) institutions such as the Red Cross.

Furthermore, once you complete the EMT course, you can advance to paramedic.

Is emergency medical technician course marketable in Kenya?

Not really… You see, an EMT course does not have a progressive career path because you cannot advance, which means you cannot work as a doctor or nurse (in short, you will never become a full medic).

Your primary responsibility is to provide immediate medical care in emergency situations, particularly in ambulances.

So, the emergency medical technician program does not provide as many opportunities as conventional medical programs such as nursing or clinical medicine.

Therefore, if you did not achieve the required grades for courses such as nursing, consider taking technical certificate courses in areas such as automotive engineering, refrigeration & air conditioning, or other certificate courses that you can lead to self-employment.
