Diploma in clinical medicine and surgery in Nairobi University

Unfortunately, Nairobi University does not offer a clinical medicine and surgery diploma.

In fact, it only offers three medical-related diploma courses, namely:

  • Diploma in Clinical Audiology and Public Health Otology
  • Diploma in Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound
  • Diploma in Renal Nursing

So, you can only study the diplomas listed above and not the diploma in clinical medicine at the University of Nairobi.

In short, if you only want to study a diploma in clinical medicine and surgery, you’ll have to look for alternative medical schools to enroll in for the course.

Anyway, don’t worry; I’ll share some other medical schools that offer the course that you might want to look into.

But first, let’s go over the general entry requirements for the course.

Diploma in clinical medicine and surgery requirements

The general entry requirements for the diploma in clinical medicine in Kenya are as follows:

You must have scored a minimum mean grade of C (plain) in KCSE.

In addition, you must have attained certain qualifications in the required cluster subjects as follows:

  • English or Kiswahili: at least a C (plain)
  • Chemistry/Physical Sciences: at least a C (plain)
  • Biology/Biological Sciences: C (plain)

Also, you must have at least a C (plain) in any one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, or Physical Sciences.

The course is offered at several KMTC campuses across the country.

To apply as a government-sponsored student, you must apply through the KUCCPS portal when it is open for KMTC intake, so keep checking.

Remember, if you enroll in this course as a government-sponsored student, you will qualify for government scholarships and loans to help you clear your school fees without struggle.

Alternatively, you can also apply as a self-sponsored student, directly through the KMTC application portal.

North Coast Medical Training College

North Coast MTC is a private medical college located in Bomani village in Kikambala Location, Kilifi County.

They do offer a diploma in clinical medicine and surgery at a cost of Kshs. 58, 400 per semester (tuition only) for a period of three years (6 semesters).

The Outspan Medical College

The Outspan Medical College is inspected and approved by the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya to train clinical medicine and surgery at the diploma level.

So, As a result, this is yet another private medical college to consider enrolling in for the course.

They are located in Rware, off Baden Powel Road, in Nyeri.

Nyahururu Medical Training College
