This being the only course at Mount Kenya University you can enroll in with a D plain in your KCSE, it is worth noting that the course is in the school of public health, which has five (5) Programmes among them is Nutrition and Dietetics.

Additionally, note that this course is Accredited by the Kenya Nutritionist and Dietitians’ Institute.

Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics -How to apply

To apply for admission into the Programme, there are two options you can choose from.

To start with, you can do it online by simply clicking www.mku.ac.ke and strictly following all the steps and instructions to apply.

All you need is:

  • A proof of payment, either a bank deposit slip or reference number if you paid via M-pesa.
  • You also must ensure you have met the eligibility criteria for the program.
  • Academic Transcripts and Certificates.
  • Your recent passport photo.
  • An Identification document (either a National Identity Card or Passport).

Alternatively,

  1. You can choose the option of obtaining an application form from any Mount Kenya university  branch, or downloading the form from the website and printing it.
  2. From there, fill the form out correctly as instructed, and later return the duly filled form to the Registrar -Academic Administration.

Side note: Application fees for the certificate course is KSHS. 1,000, and the money is payable through the following banks.

D plain courses in Mount Kenya University -FAQs

Can I join MKU with D plain?

If you scored D in your KCSE, note that you can join Mount Kenya University and pursue Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics which you need a minimum grade of D in your KCSE plus a D in the cluster subjects English, Biology or Biological Sciences, Chemistry or Physical Sciences and D in Physics, Mathematics, Home Science, Agriculture.

Is it guaranteed that with a D plain in KCSE I will pursue Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics at MKU?

If you scored a D in your KCSE that is the entry requirement to pursue this course at Mount Kenya University, but you do not qualify with the cluster subjects, it is too unfortunate that you will not have a chance to pursue this course. Simply, the cluster subject must go hand in hand with the minimum D grade.
