In this short post, I will share with you the Diploma in nursing requirements in KMTC…I’m assuming that you want to take nursing as your career and you want to study at KMTC.
So below are the Diploma in nursing requirements in KMTC and other important details you need to know about Diploma in nursing in KMTC.
Diploma in nursing requirements in KMTC [Full requirements for diploma in nursing in Kenya]
The minimum requirements for Diploma in nursing in KMTC are as follows:
Aggregate KCSE Grade (Overall Grade): C(plain) in your KCSE (and Above).
Besides, you need to possess these grades in the subjects I list below:
Grade C(flat C) -and Above in:
- Kiswahili/ English (a C flat in one will suffice)
- Biology(or Biological Sciences)- a C flat in one will suffice)
That’s not all…
You must also have had a C-(C minus grade) in one (out of these subjects):
- Physics
- Maths
- Physical-Sciences
- Chemistry
Note it’s a C- in just one out of the 4 above.
Congratulations if you have the above diploma in nursing requirements in kenya …you qualify to apply for admission to KMTC Diploma in Nursing programme..
Remember you apply through KUCCPS as now all pre-service KMTC programmes are under KUCCPS..
And obviously, you can only apply when the portal opens.
Good thing is, KUCCPS announces when KMTC intakes are open via their social media handles (so Follow The Placement Service (@KUCCPS_Official) on X (formerly Twitter) …that way, you will be the first to be notified when the KUCCPS portal opens for new KMTC intakes

And surely you can only submit your application when the portal opens next for KMTC courses intakes.
So make sure you follow The Placement Service (@KUCCPS_Official) on X (formerly Twitter) …you will see the announcement first when the KUCCPS portal opens for the next scheduled KMTC intakes
Please note that once you have finished the certificate, you must go for practice or work for 2 years and become registered by the Nursing council of Kenya before you can apply for the Diploma in Nursing course.
Diploma in Nursing and Certificate in Nursing in KMTC fee structure
I will now share the fee structures for both the Diploma in Nursing and Certificate in Nursing in KMTC and the KMTC campuses offering the two courses …My goal is to ensure you have all the necessary information for preparation purposes
Certificate in Nursing in KMTC fee structure
The fee structure for KMTC certificate in nursing course is as follows:
Fee for Year 1: Kshs. 80,700.00 (Paid during admission though there is the option of paying in 2-3 installments)
Fee for Year 2: Kshs. 59,000.00
Fee for the last ½ year: Kshs. 59,000.00
Note that the certificate takes 2 and ½ years
Diploma in Nursing in KMTC fee structure
Fee for Year 1: Kshs. 80,700.00 (Paid during admission though there is the option of paying in 2-3 installments)
Fee for Year 2: Kshs 78,000.00
Fee for Year 3: Kshs 78,000.00
Fee for the last ½ year: Kshs. 39,000.00
Note that the certificate takes 3 and ½ years
The other thing you should know is that if you’re going through the upgrading from certificate to diploma in nursing programme, the course takes just 1 and ½ years…so the fee will be Kshs.80700 and kshs.59000
Of course, you need to budget for extra costs such as food and accommodation, learning materials and text books, internship/attachment costs, and personal expenses.
Needless to say, such are not in the above fee structure..it only shows the tuition fee.
