Mode of study

Mount Kenya university has diverse study modes namely; full-time, evening classes, weekend classes, online and Distance, Institutional Based, and electronic Learning (DIBeL).

Intakes

Intakes for Regular and Online modes of study are in January, May and September

DIBeL mode of study intakes is in April, August, and December.

Application procedure

Procedure 1

  1. To apply for any diploma course at Mount Kenya University, kindly download the application form from mku.ac.ke.
  2. Fill out the form, and then attach all the required scanned documents which include; copies of ID/Passport, relevant academic, and professional certificates.
  3. Make the application payment then submit, and don’t forget to share the payment receipt to MKU either scanned or you can email apply@mku.ac.ke

Procedure 2

  1. Collect the form from any MKU campus or download the application form from www.mku.ac.ke then print it.
  2. Next, fill out the form and attach all the required documents that we have stated in procedure 1.
  3. Pay for the application and return the forms plus the application payment receipt to the Registrar – Academic Administration.

Hostels

Mount Kenya university offers accommodation at the following rates for  diploma students.

  • 19,500 per Trimester for ordinary rooms
  • 21000 for special rooms

Just so you know, the fee above covers both accommodation and catering services.

Steps to book a hostel

  1. To book a hostel, log in to the student portal.
  2. Go ahead and click ‘My Requests menu’, then click ‘Hostel Booking tab’.
  3. Choose Room Preference depending on the hostel assigned Session and then click Book Room
  4. Choose the booking details and click Check Room Availability button then submit.

This is because admission is subject to fulfillment of all requirements and class size as approved by the University Senate.
