Before we look at the fee structure, please note that we have summarized the fee payable per year in this article.

But it is worth noting that, this does not mean you will have to pay the fee all at once, No! you can pay per semester if you opt to pay in installment.

With that said, let us now look at the fee structure for all Programmes offered in the institution in this section.

 

Certificate Programmes annual fee structure (Module I & Module II)

Minimum Entry Requirement:                                          

  • Mean grade of C-minus in KCSE

Cluster Subjects Requirements:

  • C- minus in English and Kiswahili
  • C-minus in any other 2 subjects

Diploma Programmes annual fee structure (Module I & Module II)

When looking at the diploma Programmes, we will look at the fee for government-sponsored (both boarder and day scholar) and self-sponsored (non-residence).

Diploma Programmes:

  • Diploma in Journalism
  • Diploma in Broadcast Journalism
  • Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations
  • Diploma in TV Programmes Production
  • Diploma in Radio Programmes Production

Minimum Entry requirement:

  • Mean Grade C plain

Cluster Subjects qualifications:

  • C plain in English and Kiswahili
  • C plain in any other 2 subjects

Film/video production training diploma courses

  • Diploma in Film/ Video Program Production (Production & Directing option)
  • Diploma in Film/ Video Program Production (Editing option)
  • Diploma in Film/ Video Program Production (Camera option)
  • Diploma in Film/ Video Program Production (Sound option)
  • Diploma in Animation and Graphic Design

Minimum entry requirements:

Mean grade C plain

Cluster Subjects requirements:

  • C plain in English
  • C- Kiswahili
  • D+ (plus) in Mathematics or Physics

Engineering diploma programs

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Instrument Option (KNEC)
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Telecommunication Option (KNEC)

Minimum Entry Requirements:

  • Mean Grade C- (Minus)

Cluster Subjects requirements:

  • C- (Minus) in Mathematics
  • C plain in English, Physics/ Physical Sciences or C- (Minus in Electricity, or Drawing and Design as an additional subject

 

  • Diploma in Media Technology

Minimum entry requirements:

  • Mean grade C-minus

Cluster Subjects requirements:

  • C- (minus) in English and Mathematics
  • C-minus Physics/ Physical Sciences

Postgraduate diploma courses fee structure

Courses:

  • Diploma in Broadcast Journalism
  • Diploma in Radio & Television Programmes Production

Minimum Entry Requirements:

Certificate in the same field from a recognized institution.

  • Advanced Diploma in Broadcast Engineering

Minimum entry requirements:

You must have a diploma in any of the following: Electronics, Telecommunication, Electrical, or Media Technology (with not less than 3 years experience).

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication

Minimum Entry Requirements:

Have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university

Other charges:

Apart from the fee we have looked at in all the Programmes offered in Kenya institute of mass communication above,  please note that there is additional attachment fee of Kshs. 8100 for all the courses offered.

But, keep in mind that,  the attachment fee is optional (you only pay if you are interested ).

Kenya institute of mass communication fees structure [Intakes and how to apply]

Intake

The institute has its intakes only once per year in the month of September.

Just so you know, the intakes are advertised in the daily newspapers in the month of June so, please keep an eye during that time.

How to apply

  1. To apply, you can pick the form from the institution (make sure you keep the form clean)
  2. Next, read the form carefully and understand
  3. Now, fill in with Capital Letters as requested
  4. Attach all the required documents that include photocopies of your result slip, your passport photo, and your identification documents (your ID or passport).
  5. Remember to address your the duly filled application forms to the Registrar- Academic Administration.
  6. Take your time to review the Form before submission.
  7. When you are fully satisfied that everything is correctly done, pay Kshs. 1000 application fee then return the form to the register office.

Alternatively, you can apply online through KUCCPS as a government-sponsored student.

Application through KUCCPS

  1. Start by going to the KUCCPS applications portal here.
  2. Then, enter your KCSE index followed by the year you sat for your KCSE and your KCPE index number or birth certificate number.
  3. Now, revise or just make a new course application as appropriate by simply clicking on the Application/revision tab.
  4. After confirming that you qualify for the course you have selected submit.

Accommodation

Though accommodation is limited, the institute usually accommodates students admitted to the regular program.

For self-sponsored students, accommodation is available in the hostels within the college.

To secure yourself a hostel, you must fill in such a form which you can download online through the institution website, or get one there.
