Best Diploma Courses in Kenya 2026:If you didn’t get the grades required to

take a degree, you have the option of taking a good diploma.

So in this post, I’m going to be sharing with you some of the

Best Diploma Courses in Kenya 2026. I’ll be telling you the requirements

and even some of the places that you can actually go study this.

Diploma in any ICT or computer-related line.

Why? Technology is not going to go anywhere. Yeah, I know people say that a lot of

people have done IT and they are jobless, it’s because these people, these students, do

it the wrong way. In this field, what you need more is skills. And any student

who is bright enough to take their diploma in

IT

computer science

cyber security

software

and then they make sure that they focus more on the skills, and then they’re going to be

very aggressive. So any student that will do that is going to have a huge

chance of being successful. Remember this course, you can look at it in two ways.

Both from the side of getting a job somewhere, or also getting to open

your own business. The opportunities are so many.

So, any technology-related diploma is going to be a great one.

I think every other TVET, every other university will have this program.

Diploma courses in renewable energy

These courses are going to be very marketable. Of course, the world

is moving from where we are, where fossil fuels are a big problem due to things

to do with climate change. And now we are moving to a world where everyone

Wants to move to renewable energy sources.

They are cleaner, and they are friendlier to the climate. With that, it means

anybody who is going to be having skills to work in the renewable energy industry

is going to have a huge opportunity.

So if I were you and I am interested in things to do with energy probably I did

physics, then I would do a course in renewable energy. I’ll do a diploma in

renewable energy, like

wind energy.

Yeah, wind energy is a big thing. We are doing a lot of

Electricity from wind

Hydro power (electricity generation from water sources)

Biogas or biomass energy.

So a diploma course in renewable energy could be game-changing.

Diplomas in health sciences

These diplomas are super marketable. Why? because people are living for

longer and that means they need more medical care. As people age, they tend

to need more medical care.

So, anybody doing a diploma in health sciences, including

Nursing

Radiography,

Dental technology

Oral health.

These are some of the most marketable health diplomas.

If you’re passionate about:

Working in health,

You are compassionate

You like serving people

I would encourage you to consider pursuing a diploma in

health sciences. They are there at KMTC and a few private colleges in Kenya.

skilled trades

If you are a class person, you are a person who can do hard stuff, and you

don’t mind getting dirty, you like disassembling and then reassembling stuff.

You can do a course in what we call skilled trades. Here you’ll be learning

a skill, for example, welding skills in;

Arc welding

Arc welding, for example are in very high demand even outside the country.

Refrigeration and air conditioning.

Yeah, this one is perfect. The world is getting hotter because of climate change,

and there’s going to be a lot of demand for people who know how to install

refrigeration and air conditioning systems and also maintain them.

Building technology.

I have seen people earning a lot of money in this line. A diploma in building technology

could open very many doors for you from

carpentry

joinery

Mersonary.

Tiling

There are a lot of skills that you learn here that could pay you handsomely.

I have never met a building technician, a building engineer who sleeps hungry.

Unless those ones who are very lazy and people continue to build homes, they’re

not going to stop building homes. Every other person has a dream of owning their

own homes.

In a diploma, building technology could be exemplary.

Automotive

We are buying cars. Everyone wants to own a car. And that means

there is always going to be demand for automotive engineers.

automotive technicians who know their stuff here.

I would recommend that you try to specialize in electric cars.

That’s where the world is moving to. So any security trade is going to be a

Sure bet diploma courses with high demand in kenya.

Diploma in fashion and design

This is another sure bet. If you are a lady, and you are wondering what

Course do I do even? Even gents, if you have a thing for fashion, you are a

fashionista;

Fashion and design

You have a thing for beauty, you are naturally interested in that line, learning a diploma

in fashion and design or any beauty-related line is going to make you very

relevant, it is going to give you a skill that can feed you for life.

So fashion and design is excellent because people will never walk naked.

We continue needing garments, demand for people who can dress us is always going

to be there.

People in beauty, I think we know that our ladies will always want to be best looking

at any given time.

So anybody who is doing a diploma in lines like

beauty therapy

cosmetologology

and such kind of lines is going to be in a lot of demand. And the good thing with these

courses, with these diplomas, is that you can go ahead and employ yourself.

Diploma in teaching and education.

The diploma in primary teaching education, diploma in secondary education.

Anybody who does a diploma in teaching and education is going to be very very relevant.

You know, people will continue bearing kids, and these kids all of them need to go

to school, and this includes people who can target doing diplomas that will make

them teach in international schools in the Montessori system, where the pay is

much better, and you can do this in local universities and even in our Teachers

Training Colleges.

Diploma in sales and marketing.

Anybody doing a diploma in a marketing-related line, including sales, are going

to be very relevant. Why? I keep saying this: there’s no business that will reject you

if you can help them sell.

So if you’re looking for a business course that you can do and you feel that I want

to do a business course, I would recommend that you take a diploma in marketing or

sales-related line, and if you can be smart enough, and you couple your marketing

qualification with a digital marketing qualification then you will be exceptionally marketable.

Diploma in any agricultural course

Diploma in animal health, Diploma in agricultural education and extension.

You see, skills in agriculture will always remain relevant.

Why? We have to feed, people have to feed whether there is AI or not. If you can

have those skills that will help;

people produce food

entrepreneurs produce food

farmers produce food

You will always get paid. People doing veterinary and those kinds of things,

those are some of the Best Diploma Courses in Kenya 2026 and are going to

be very very marketable and I think they are going to be the last to lack jobs

because if people cannot eat, then I think the world will just end.

So don’t make a mistake of choosing another diploma. So these are the

diploma courses that guarantee jobs in kenya I recommend.

LaSoMa Scholarships 2026

The Laser Enabled Manufacturing of Solar Systems (LASOMA) project has officially opened applications for the 2026 Master’s and PhD Scholarships aimed at strengthening research and innovation in solar manufacturing, AI-powered systems, robotics, automation, and advanced engineering technologies across Africa.

LaSoMa Scholarships 2026: WHO IS FUNDING YOU?

This scholarship program is officially supported by the African Union and co-funded by the European Union.

LASOMA Overview

As you noted previously, LASOMA stands for: Laser Enabled Manufacturing of Solar Systems

And the program specifically focuses on:

Advanced laser technologies

Solar manufacturing

Artificial Intelligence systems

Robotics and automation

Smart manufacturing

Embedded systems

Advanced engineering research

In a nutshell, the goal of these scholarships is to build Africa’s research and manufacturing capacity in modern energy and industrial technologies. Zero-defect, zero, waste production and of course, climate change mitigation.

Note that in some African countries, the scholarship funds both Masters and PhDs qualifications (in Kenya, the program funds PhD programs at JKUAT only at the moment)

You might have heard that now you can only get government funding (scholarships and loans) by applying through the New HEF funding website (Higher Education Financing).

So, how does it work and what do you need to be able to apply for scholarships via the HEF funding portal Kenya?

This is what this article seeks to answer ..so read it to the end if you’re unsure about the now-in-force HEF portal or you have been having countless questions about the new HEF government funding system

New HEF funding website – all you need to Know about new HEF funding website Kenya

What it is

The Higher Education Financing Portal is an online funding evaluation too through which you can apply for a scholarship, HELB loans, and even bursaries after you have received your KUCCPS admission letter.

Who is eligible?

The HEF website was launched in 2023 to help the government process funding –under a scientific tool they call Means Testing Instrument[MTI]- for KCSE students joining universities and TVET colleges in Kenya.

Does everyone qualify for government scholarship under HEF portal?

No- only those students admitted to public/government institutions qualify for scholarship(at the moment).

But that doesn’t mean that you’re left entirely to your own means if you have been called to a private institution..No!

The thing is, even if you won’t get a scholarship, you can still apply for Government loan to ease the financial burden on your parents/sponsor (HELB loans) via www hef portal co ke (that is the web address for the portal)

How much will I get once I complete the application for HEF funding?

Well, it will depend on your financial category- the category (bands) that the portal puts you into as determined by many factors including the income (household income band) of your parents/sponsor.

Other determinants are:

The programme/course you chose to study- points awarded differently for STEM and Arts courses.

Affirmative performance(Gender… varied weights given depending on whether you’re a male or female).

Marginalization – students coming from marginalized counties(or an institution in such regions) are awarded bonus weights

Your parent’s background …..varied weights are assigned based on whether you’re an orphan,
from a single parent, from divorced parents, etc.

Previous school type – again varied weights allocated based on whether you have attended private
or public schools.

Expenditure on education – others weights are added depending on whether you have
other siblings in secondary school/tertiary institutions(and their number).

Family size as well as composition – varied weights given too based on the number of
children(and whether polygamous/monogamous) and also the age of your parents.

Living with Disability – there are varied weights too based on any disability(and the severity of the disability).

Below is the general amounts given as scholarship and loans (how much will come to you as scholarship, tuition fees, upkeep , and ultimately how much your household needs to contribute)– based on the 5 categories (now renamed bands) as specified in the updated New HEF funding website:

Band one (Previously called Vulnerable students)

You get 70% worth of Scholarships -25 % in Loans. That means that your parents/guardians will shoulder the remaining 5% of your annual fees cost

The government will additionally allocate you in this band Kshs.60,000.00 for upkeep.

*Band 1 is for families with monthly income max of Kshs.5995.00

Band two (Previously called Extremely needy students)

You get 60% worth of Scholarships -30 % in Loans. That means that your parents/guardians will shoulder the remaining 10% of your annual fees cost

The government will additionally allocate you in this band Kshs.55,000.00 for upkeep.

*Band 2 is for families with monthly income max of Kshs.23670.00

Key Take aways

Please keep in mind the following:

All students – in the 5 bands- will get between Kshs.40,000.00 to Kshs.60,000.00 graduated based on your households’ financial strength.

Otherwise, every household will pay a part of their child’s education cost, even though it may not be a lot(depending on the course).

How much does it cost to apply for HEF government scholarship?

Nothing…. all scholarship and loan applications are made free of charge.

When is the deadline?

The deadline is typically set once the portal is opened (and it is shown on the portal).

But, in general, it is usually announced after the release of KCSE results -and mostly after KUCCPS placement has been completed-to allow applicants enough time to apply for financing(the money is factored in at the start of your first year of study).

How many students will the government sponsor?

Out of all the KCSE graduates every year- students going to the university as well as those placed into TVET colleges by KUCCPS- all are sponsored 100% because the government has determined that they’re either vulnerable or extremely needy.

How do you maneuver when you are applying?

The HEF website has a number of features that make it easy for you to apply for government funding.

You simply create an account, upload your documents, and even track the status of your application.

If you’re looking for the Mpesa Foundation Academy Fees structure, then you’ve come to the right place.

Education is a vital tool that paves the way for individual growth, societal progress, and the development of a nation.

However, access to a high-quality education often comes at a cost, limiting opportunities for many deserving students.

In this regard, the Mpesa Foundation Academy has emerged as a beacon of hope, providing an exceptional educational experience while ensuring accessibility through its unique fee structure.

The academy is a prestigious high school located in Thika, established by Safaricom through its philanthropic arm, the Mpesa Foundation.

Furthermore, it seeks to provide high-quality education to talented but financially disadvantaged students from across Kenya.

So, in this article, we will look at Mpesa Foundation Academy fees and scholarships.

Let’s dive in.

Mpesa foundation academy fees

The Mpesa Foundation Academy doesn’t have a fee structure since it is purely scholarship based. When it comes to fees, the academy operates on a scholarship model.

As previously stated, the academy provides a platform for economically disadvantaged students who would otherwise be unable to continue their studies after the primary level; thus, learners are offered full scholarships.

Therefore, the Mpesa foundation covers the entire cost of education for all its students, including tuition fees, accommodation, meals, as well as learning materials.

But while there are no fees to pay, parents or guardians must cover the cost of student transportation to and from the academy.
