A little bit of history of the Kenya School of TVET (KSTVET)

Kenya School of TVET (formerly known as the Kenya Technical Trainers College-KTTC), is a government institution under the ministry of education, directorate of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

KSTVET was founded in 1978 with the primary goal of training technically skilled personnel—to not just teach in technical institutions but also for employment in all sectors of the economy.

Over the years, it has grown in terms of courses and student enrollment.  For example, it currently provides diploma-level technical teacher education programs in about ten departments.

Please keep in mind that in order to be admitted to the Kenya School of TVET, you must have at least a diploma or a professional course such as CPA.

The following is the current fee structure for KSTVET’s regular and school-based programs:

Note: It’s important to note that the above fee does not include accommodation or meals, so plan accordingly. Also, you must pay  50% (at least) of the fees for the module fees at the commencement of each
module. The balance is usually due before you sit for your end of Module Exams/tests.

How to pay fees

Please keep in mind that you must pay at least 50% of the module fees at the start of each module and the remaining balance before sitting for the end-of-module exams.

Kenya School of TVET intakes

Intakes for diploma in technical trainer education holiday (school-based) programs are typically held in April, with regular program intakes taking place in January and September of each year.

 

Kenya School of TVET –How to apply

To apply to KSTVET, download the application form from the KSTVET website here, fill it out, and attach all required documents, including your professional and academic certificates and transcripts, the original receipt for payment of the application fee, and a copy of your National Identity Card.

After that, submit your application to the chief principal of KSTVET.

Remember to deposit the non-refundable application fee of Kshs. 1500 into the following KSTVET bank account before commencing with your application:

Bank branch: Gigiri branch

Another way to apply would be from the KUCCPS website when the portal opens for applications.

 

Kenya School of TVET scholarship

Kenya School of TVET usually offers a limited number of full scholarships for the Diploma in Technical Trainer Education, which are available each September.

To be specific, the scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fee, and because it is limited, you should apply as soon as it becomes available to increase your chances of being eligible for the scholarship.

It’s also worth noting that only applicants with a diploma or higher national diploma from a Kenyan TVET institution as well as exemplary performance in their skill areas are to be considered.

Also, remember that if you apply through KUCCPS, you will be eligible for both the government scholarship as well as HELB loans.
