If you missed out on nursing in KMTC – or you don’t want to compete with the thousands applying for the course at KMTC- maybe you should consider enrolling in one of the Private Universities Offering Nursing in Kenya.

  2. AMREF INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY-Nairobi
  3. BARATON UNIVERSITY – Nandi County
  4. DAYSTAR UNIVERSITY  – Nairobi, Church owned
  5. GREAT LAKES UNIVERSITY-Kisumu (Run by the Tropical Institute 0f Community Health & Development or TICH Trust)
  6. KABARAK UNIVERSITY-Nakuru (Owned by the Moi Family)
  7. KENYA HIGHLANDS UNIVERSITY-Kericho, owned by Africa Gospel Church
  8. KENYA METHODIST UNIVERSITY-Meru (Owned by the Methodist Church in Kenya)
  9. MT. KENYA UNIVERSITY-Thika (Owned by Simon Gicharu and trustees)
  10. ST. PAUL’S UNIVERSITY-Kiambu (Owned by about 5 different churches including Anglican Church, PCEA, Methodist Church, Reformed Church, and the NCCK)
  11. UMMA UNIVERSITY-Kajiado (Serves the Muslim community mostly)
  12. UNITED STATES INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY(USIU)-Nairobi (Not for profit institution)

Note that most of these offer the BScN (Pre Service) Programme though a few offer the BScN (In Service – As a PART TIME programme)

I’d recommend that you apply as soon as possible if your dream is to become a nurse..of course we keep saying that nursing is one of the most in demand courses out there.

To apply, go to their respective websites and first familiarize yourself with the requirements and intake details. Then you can choose to apply online or physically (you visit them)

Of course, this information is publicly available from the Nursing Council Website and remember that the Nursing council is the body that controls and regulates the training and licensing of nurses in Kenya (so nursing courses in Kenya fall under them).
