Entry requirements for degree in pharmacy in Kenya

In general, you must meet the following minimum entry requirements in order to be admitted to a pharmacy degree program at any university in Kenya:

A KCSE mean grade of C+ (plus) or its equivalent

Cluster subject requirements:

  • C+ (plus) in Biology
  • C+ (plus) in Chemistry
  • C+ (plus) in either Mathematics or Physics
  • C+ (plus) in either English or Kiswahili

It is important to note, however, that the above requirements mostly apply to self-sponsored students.

Why?

Remember that the demand for pharmacy degree courses is extremely high, so in order to secure a place in most universities, you must have obtained higher grades.

In short, even though the requirements are as stated above, for placement through KUCCPS, you must have passed well and you must meet the cluster point requirements for a degree in pharmacy at various universities.

That being so, to see if you have met the required cluster points for the pharmacy degree course, simply log into the KUCCPS student portal, then under the programs tab, look for the degree in pharmacy and click on it.

After that, select the option to add it to your course basket.

Following that, the system will either add you (if you have satisfied the specific cluster points for a pharmacy degree in Kenya at the university of your choice) or notify you that you do not have the required points.

So that is the simplest way to determine whether you are eligible for a pharmacy degree based on the cluster points set up by the various institutions offering the course.

Keep in mind that cluster points change from year to year, but you can always find them on the KUCCPS portal.
