That is because there is no Diploma in nursing course in MKU …at least not as of today …

In fact, MKU offers nursing at the Degree level only…You can only take a Bachelor of Science in Nursing..And I’m sure you know that it needs a C+ (at least) and a C+ (plus) too in each of these subjects:

  • English/Kiswahili
  • Maths/Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology

Min requirements for Diploma in Nursing at KMTC (diploma in nursing qualifications in KMTC)

KCSE Mean Grade: Have a C(plain) aggregate grade- and Above.

Also: Have a Grade C(plain/flat C) and Above in these:

  • English/Kiswahili  (a C in either will suffice)
  • Biology/Biological Sciences(a C in either will suffice)

Finally:

You must have a C-(C minus) in any one subject(out of these):

  • Physics/Physical-Sciences/Chemistry/Maths

Alternative Diploma in nursing requirements in Kenya –For Diploma in Community Health Nursing (Upgrading from Certificate to Diploma qualifications)

There are some who may already have a Certificate in Nursing(Community health nursing) and want to upgrade it to a Dip.

These are the minimum qualifications if that’s you..

  • Community Health Nursing Certificate(KECN)
  • Registration by NCK(Nursing Council of Kenya)
  • 2 Years experience (minimum) post-graduation

Who is the Examiner for the Diploma in Nursing at KMTC?

It is examined and certified by the NCK(Nursing Council of Kenya)

When are the Intakes?

March and September – But March is the most common intake for Diploma in Nursing in many KMTC campuses.

How long does the Diploma in Nursing Take at KMTC?

3 and ½ years for except for the upgrading  from Certificate to Diploma programs which takes 1 and ½ year (Classes are full-time)
