<h2>Perioperative theatre technology entry requirements</h2>
<h2>Diploma in Perioperative theatre technology entry requirements</h2>
<p>To take the Diploma in Theatre Assistant (as the course is sometimes called), you must have any of these minimum requirements:</p>
<p>KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) Aggregate grade of C- (Minus)..</p>
<p>Keep in mind that you must also have taken biology as one of your KCSE subjects.</p>
<p><strong>OR </strong></p>
<p>A Certificate (you must have passed) in Perioperative theatre technology from a recognized institution</p>
<p><strong>OR</strong></p>
<p>Any other related certificate from an accredited institution.</p>
<p><strong>OR</strong></p>
<p>An equivalent (to the KCSE Aggregate grade C-) as verified by ministry of education-from other institutions</p>

<h2>Certificate in Perioperative theatre technology entry requirements</h2>
<p>Now, you do not need to have scored Grade A to be able to do the certificate in perioperative theatre technology course in Kenya..</p>
<p>You do not even need the C- needed for a Diploma&#8230;&#8230;.below are the minimum qualifications to take the certificate in perioperative theatre technology course in Kenya..</p>

<p>To do this course, you should have one of these minimum requirements:</p>
<h3>Certificate in perioperative theatre technology requirements</h3>
<p>KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) Aggregate grade of D+ (Plus)..</p>
<p>In fact, I have noted that some institutions accept a D plain (mean grade) for the certificate course</p>
<p><strong>OR</strong></p>
<p>An equivalent (to the KCSE Aggregate grade D+) as verified by ministry of education-from other institutions (or any other related certificate from an accredited institution).</p>

<h2>Perioperative theatre technology in KMTC requirements</h2>
<p>Well, I have some disappointing news&#8230;KMTC does not offer the Perioperative theatre technology course at the moment – not at the certificate nor the diploma level.</p>
<p>In other words, there is no KMTC offering perioperative theatre technology in Kenya currently.</p>
<p>So you have to look at other Colleges offering the course and not KMTC.</p>
<p>I will share links to the colleges offering perioperative theatre technology in Kenya including colleges offering perioperative theatre technology in Nairobi towards the tail end of the article.</p>

<h2>What does perioperative theatre technology deals with?</h2>
<p>Operation Theatre Technology graduates are typically hired by both private and public medical hospitals and your role is to primarily oversee operating rooms(make sure everything is alright in there ahead of an operation) and also offer general help in surgical wards .</p>
<p>In a nutshell, you work in a hospital’s theatre majorly as a supporting worker&#8230;that is why holders of the perioperative theatre technology  course are sometimes called theatre assistants..</p>
<p>Others call you an Operation Theatre Technician&#8230;</p>
<p>To be clear, your duties include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Assisting during Surgery (you may be asked to hand over a certain tool to the surgeon or nurse)</li>
<li>Arranging all surgical instruments to make sure they are in order before surgery- also you will be making sure that all of the necessary surgical supplies are there and in enough quantities.</li>
<li>Sterilizing assorted instrumentation before surgery</li>
<li>In addition, cleaning all the surgical instruments (that were used) after surgery</li>
<li>Carrying out any surgeons’ commands during/after surgery</li>
<li>Taking care (in general) of the anaesthesia equipment</li>
</ul>
<p>Do not forget that you will be working under close supervision of the surgeons, Anaesthetists, and, of course, registered nurses</p>

<li>Preparing assigned surgery room</li>
<li>Assisting during a surgery operation</li>
<li>Cleaning all the surgical equipment</li>
