In a communiqué sent to TVET colleges, national polytechnics, universities, and all other institutions offering KASNEB exams, KASNEB announced that its foundation- officially referred to as the KASNEB Foundation- is now helping students finance their education through loans and bursaries.

In other words, KASNEB foundation is body charged with the responsibility of issuing loans as well as bursaries to needy students pursuing KASNEB courses in accredited training institutes.

The Foundation- whose establishment was endorsed by the National Treasury & Planning- was officially launched on 24th July 2020.

Like other foundations, are overseen and governed by a board of trustees.

All accredited training institutions play a key role in the foundation’s operations including acting as the receiving agents, issuing temporary registration no.s to enable students apply, etc.

How are the loans administered?

KASNEB issues the loans through the HEF(Higher Education Funding) portal- and you can only qualify if you’re enrolled in one of KASNEB courses(in an approved college).

KASNEB Loans- Application Process

Before commencing your application for KASNEB’s Loan & Bursary, your MUST have registered on KASNEB’s
Students’ Portal (visit KASNEB website to do that)

STEP 1

1⃣ After that, go to HEF application portal (www.hef.co.ke) – once there, register and then activate your account (make you use a personal mobile number that’s registered under your official name- not your parent’s- and ID number.)

STEP 2

2⃣ When creating your account, be sure that to select study level “Professional Course & Diploma” as well as indicate (under Education Backgrounds) that you’re not admitted (to any college) by KUCCPS

STEP 3 – APPLYING

3⃣ Click Loan Application then select as follows:
KASNEB Foundation Loan & Bursary
Application: Tuition fee s only
KASNEB Foundation Loan& Bursary
Application:KASNEB fee s only

‍ Note that you can choose to apply for loan/bursary to cover tuition fees only (in your college), KASNEB fees only, or even both Tuition and KASNEB fees(all the cost).

STEP 4

4⃣Open and fill the application form selected now.= remember to click submit once done. That’s all.

STEP 5- TRACKING

5⃣You can track how fat the processing of your KASNEB Loan/Bursary application is by logging onto the HEF application portal every now and then.

And don’t forget that the money is remitted directly to your college- and the other to KASNEB, if you also requested for KASNEB Fees funding.

So nothing comes to your account.

KASNEB Loans- the Eligibility Criteria

Not everyone qualifies. Here are the conditions:

• You must have met the set entry requirements (minimum) for the KASNEB certificate, diploma, or professional qualification you want funding for.
• The foundation gives preference to orphans, those without any other means of sponsoring their studies, and students who come from extremely poor backgrounds.
• You must be enrolled at a training institution that has been fully accredited by KASNEB.

Qualifying Loan Amount

The loan shall pay for the applicant’s tuition fees in the accredited institution they’re training in for the chosen KASNEB courses.

It shall also cover all the fees usually payable to kasneb -registration fees, exam booking fees, and of course, the annual registration renewal fee.

The fee will also cater for exemption fees for applying kasneb students transiting to higher courses like Diploma and/or professional qualification from Certificate/Technician courses.

Objects of KASNEB Foundation

• To hold money (and other assets) in trust with the objective of utilizing the same to issue bursaries and/or loans to students from a needy background to help them pursue their chosen kasneb qualifications.
• To administer the loan fund in collaboration with highly reputable lending institutions, other institutions in the financial sector, or other authorized bodies to needy students desiring to obtain various KASNEB qualifications.
• To invest in communities as one way of helping KASNEB give back to the wider society.

KASNEB CPA fee structure – all applicable charges

Note that the CPA course fee structure also applies to all other KASNEB professional courses.

These include:

• CICT (Certified Information Communication Technologists)- note that has a few fee differences when it comes to the examinations.
• CS (Certified secretary)
• CIFA (Certified Investment and Financial Analysts)
• CCP (Certified Credit Professionals)

Full KASNEB CPA fee structure

Registration fees

You, of course, need to register with KASNEB.

The charges are as follows for all the components related to registration as a KASNEB student:

• Registration fees-.7500 (includes the student ID card fee)
• Annual registration renewal fees– Kshs..2000 (payable every July 1^st )
• Registration reactivation fees-.4000 (paid by students whose membership has lapsed. membership expires after failing to pay the renewals fee for 3 consecutive years)
• Student ID replacement fees– Kshs..500 (if you happen to misplace your KASNEB ID card)

KASNEB CPA exam fee structure

Exams are booked  thirty(30) days before the next exam…which is typically the very last day of month preceding the next KASNEB examination date.

So for KASNEB April Exams, deadline should be 31st March.

Likewise, for KASNEB August exam,  deadline should be 31st July.

Lastly, for KASNEB December exams, deadline should be 3oth November.

Foundation level:

• Fee/paper 1-Kshs..1400

Intermediate level:

• Fee/paper 1-Kshs..2400

Advanced level:

• Fee/paper 1-Kshs..3600
• Fee for Practical Business&Data analytics paper/exam – Kshs…7500/-

You may be awarded a couple of exemptions in units you undertook in a Certificate/Diploma/degree course in the past as per KASNEB’s exemption policy.

How to pay via e-KASNEB app

KASNEB encourages you to pay fees via e-kasneb app.

Go to Google PlayStore and then download the app – you then follow the ease steps to make fee payment.

It’s also worth noting that your KASNEB e wallet is linked to MPESA so you will be redirected to MPESA when paying and prompted for the MPESA PIN.

So you must download the app, create an account, and proceed with the payment steps.

In case you need assistance, you may contact the KASNEB desk at any Huduma center or visit them personally at KASNEB tower, Upper Hill, Nairobi.
