1.      Certificate in Health Records and Information

Minimum Entry Requirement

Mean grade of C- in your KCSE

More to that, you must have attained the following grades in the cluster subjects.

Cluster subject’s requirements:

• C- in English or Kiswahili
• D in Biology/ Biological Sciences
• D- in Mathematics
• And D+ in any one of the following: – Physics/Physical Sciences, Chemistry, General Science, Computer Studies, agriculture, Home Science, Economics, Geography, Commerce, and Business Studies

Course Duration:

2 years

2.      Diploma in Health Counselling

This is yet another course that you can study with D in Biology.

Entry requirement:

Mean grade C

Cluster subjects:

• C in English or Kiswahili
• D in Biology/Biological Sciences
• C in either Religious Studies, or History

Course duration:

In most of the selected institutions, this course takes 3 years.

3.      Certificate in Community Health Assistant

Minimum Entry Requirements:

Mean grade of C- in your KCSE.

On top of that, you must have scored the following grades in the mandatory subjects.

Cluster subjects’ requirements:

• D+ in English or Kiswahili
• D in Biology/ Biological Sciences
• Also, you must have a D in any of the following: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics/Physical Sciences, Agriculture, Home Science

Course duration:

The course takes a duration of 2 years.

Medical courses with D plain in Biology – More courses

4. Certificate in Medical Engineering

Minimum Entry Requirements:

Mean grade of C- in your Kenya certificate of secondary education (KCSE).

Along with that, you need to have scored the following grades in the cluster subjects.

Cluster subjects’ qualifications:

• C- in English or Kiswahili
• D in Mathematics
• D- in Physics/Physical Sciences
• D in any one of the following subjects; Chemistry, Biology/Biological Sciences, Electricity, Metal Work, Technical Drawing

5.      Certificate in Nutrition & Dietetics

To study this course, do not apply if you do not have a minimum grade of D plain in your KCSE.

Besides, you must also need the following grades in the additional subjects.

Cluster subject requirements:

• D plain in English
• D plain in Biology/Biological Sciences
• D (plain) in Chemistry
• And also, you must have scored D in one of the following subjects; Mathematics, Home Science, Physics, Agriculture, or General Sciences

6.      Certificate in Health Promotion for the Deaf (CHPD)

Entry requirements:

Mean Grade (in your KCSE): D+ (plus)

Besides, you must also need the following grades in the cluster subjects.

• Biology – D plain

Additionally, you need to have attained D (plain) grade in these subjects:

D plain courses in KMTC

There are very few courses you can pursue with a D plain in KMTC.

Here is the main one:

Foundations in Community Health Foundations in Community Health

Minimum entry requirements: D plain

Note that this is a foundational course that best suits those who would like to offer basic community health services.

The course is specifically targeted at students who are interested in working as Community Health Assistants (as part of UHC) and such roles.

Course duration: Six months

Course fees: 32,500

Medical courses with D minus

1.      Health Support Services Certificate

Minimum Entry Requirements: D–
The course is examined by NITA (National Industrial Training Authority) and is offered by Outspan medical college in Nyeri along with several other medical colleges in Kenya.

2.      Certificate in Health Promotion for the Deaf(CHPD)

Entry requirements

Mean Grade (in your KCSE): D+ (plus)

Additional subject requirements: You also need the following grades in stated subjects..

• English/Kenya Sign Language – D+ grade
• Biology – D plain
