Business management course in Kenya : Is business management marketable in Kenya /is business administration marketable in Kenya?

Well, in my opinion, business management is not a marketable course at the moment in Kenya..

Why?

First, jobs that need someone who has a business management course in Kenya are not that many.

If you don’t believe me, just try to look in the newspapers (in the job vacancies pages)- you will notice that there of the advertised openings, only a few need someone with a business management or a business administration qualification.

And it is the same case when you do a Google search for business management jobs in Kenya- I have searched in Google and only found a handful of jobs that someone with the course would be qualified for.

Worse still, there are a lot of young Kenyans who have done the course but are yet to get a job- and that means competition is crazy for the few available jobs.

So, yes, while jobs are there (relatively speaking), you may need to be very strategic if you hope to get a job soon after finishing college with the course.

What that means is this:

A second course may be important

One, you might have to take a strong supportive course to make yourself more marketable if you take a degree or Diploma in business management.

Example of courses that complements business management include CPA Course,  a qualification in Sales/ Marketing, a certification in project management, monitoring and evaluation, Grants and funds management, and more.

Consider volunteering

Another thing that can be helpful is becoming a volunteer in an organization that has opportunities..

The idea behind this is to help you get practical job experience – and it’s an open secret that most employers prefer to recruit those with significant job experience.

In short, it is tougher to get a job with a Business management course in Kenya than with courses such as civil engineering, nursing, etc.
